MEET THE FOUNDER

Oksana Karpova

Registered Nurse | Dermal Clinician | Dermoscopist

I’m Oksana Karpova, founder of Alata Aesthetics.

My professional journey began overseas, where my background included psychology and education. Those early experiences shaped the importance I place on listening, communication and understanding each person as an individual. After moving to Australia, my career evolved into an area I had long been passionate about — skin health and clinical care.

I completed a Bachelor of Dermal Science at Victoria University and built my experience across dermal and aesthetic practice, progressing from Beauty Therapist to Dermal Clinician and Clinic Manager. During these years, I developed extensive experience in skin assessment, individual treatment planning, advanced skin therapies and the development of clinical protocols and standards of care.

Wanting to further strengthen the clinical foundation of my practice, I went on to complete a Master of Nursing Science at the University of Melbourne and became a Registered Nurse.

Since 2021, an important part of my clinical work has also been in skin cancer and dermoscopy, working as a Dermoscopist/Melanographer and Registered Nurse within a skin cancer clinic. My experience includes comprehensive skin examinations, assessment and imaging of skin lesions, assisting doctors with minor surgical procedures, wound care and post-operative patient support.

Working in skin cancer has had a significant influence on the way I approach skin and aesthetic medicine. It has reinforced the importance of careful assessment and looking beyond an isolated cosmetic concern to consider the skin as a whole.

Alongside my clinical work, I continue to undertake professional education across dermoscopy, melanoma, skin health and aesthetic medicine.

Why I created Alata Aesthetics

I created Alata Aesthetics to bring these different areas of my experience together and to offer a more considered and individual approach to skin and aesthetic care.

For me, aesthetic medicine is not about following trends or changing the way someone looks. Every person has different skin, facial features, concerns, medical considerations and expectations. I believe good treatment begins with taking the time to understand all of these factors.

My approach is therefore centred on careful consultation, clinical assessment and personalised treatment planning, with the aim of supporting skin health while achieving subtle, balanced and natural-looking outcomes.

Whether someone comes to Alata Aesthetics to improve their skin, address a particular concern or explore aesthetic treatment, I want them to feel informed, comfortable and involved in every decision about their care.

Alata Aesthetics reflects the kind of practice I wanted to create throughout my own professional journey — one where clinical knowledge, individual attention and aesthetics come together thoughtfully.
