Individualised Skin Care
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP uses a concentrated portion of your own blood, prepared for treatment following an individual assessment. It may be considered for selected skin-quality concerns. Benefits vary, and treatment is not suitable for everyone.

What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma?
A small blood sample is collected and processed in a centrifuge to separate a platelet-rich portion of plasma. Platelets release signalling proteins involved in tissue repair. PRP is different from dermal filler and does not provide the same predictable volume replacement.
Research suggests possible improvements in skin texture and fine lines, but studies use different preparation methods and treatment schedules. Evidence remains limited, and the degree and duration of any improvement cannot be guaranteed. Your consultation considers whether PRP or another approach is appropriate.

REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
Potential Benefits & Limitations
PRP should be considered as an elective treatment with possible benefits, costs, recovery and risks. It is not a guaranteed solution for ageing, pigmentation or scarring.
Skin Texture
Some studies report improvements in skin texture. Individual response varies, and changes may be subtle.
Fine Lines
PRP may be considered for selected fine-line concerns. It does not reliably remove deep wrinkles or replace lost facial volume.
Your Own Plasma
PRP is prepared from your blood. This does not make treatment risk-free; sterile collection, preparation and administration are essential.
Gradual Response
Any improvement develops gradually. More than one visit may be discussed, with review before deciding whether to continue.
Your PRP Consultation & Treatment
Your plan starts with suitability and informed consent. The proposed method, treatment area, expected recovery, alternatives and total costs should be explained before you decide.
01
Assessment
We review your concerns, medical history, medicines, bleeding or platelet disorders, allergies, skin conditions and previous procedures. Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an infection, or take medicines that affect clotting. Treatment may be deferred or declined.
02
Collection & Preparation
If treatment is appropriate, blood is collected and processed using a sterile PRP system. Your clinician explains how the prepared plasma would be used. PRP injections and PRP used alongside skin needling are different procedures, with different risks and recovery.
03
Recovery & Review
You receive written instructions tailored to the procedure performed, including skincare, sun protection, activity and follow-up. Contact the clinic if symptoms worsen or recovery is not progressing as expected.
PRP Questions & Answers
Learn about recovery, realistic outcomes, preparation and important risks before deciding whether to proceed.
What recovery should I expect after PRP?
Temporary tenderness, redness, swelling, bleeding or bruising can follow blood collection and treatment. Recovery depends on the method and area; bruising may last longer than redness. Leave time before important events. Follow your clinician’s advice about makeup, skincare, heat and exercise.
When might results appear, and how many visits are needed?
There is no guaranteed timeline or standard course suitable for everyone. If improvement occurs, it is generally assessed over weeks to months. Your clinician will discuss a review plan and whether further treatment is justified by your response.
How should I prepare for PRP?
Provide a complete list of medicines and supplements, and tell us about recent illness, cold sores or skin treatments. Follow the preparation instructions supplied for your procedure. Do not stop prescribed medicines, including blood thinners, without advice from the clinician who prescribes them.
Who may be unsuitable, and what are the risks?
PRP is not suitable for everyone. Blood or platelet disorders, active infection and some medical conditions or medicines may prevent treatment. Risks include pain, bruising, bleeding, infection, persistent inflammation and injury to nearby structures. Facial injections can rarely cause serious vascular injury, including skin damage or vision loss. Using your own blood does not eliminate these risks. Seek urgent medical care for vision changes, severe or increasing pain, unusual skin discolouration or signs of infection.
